Build My House
483.8K playsDig wood, stone and sand, craft blocks and furniture, then build and decorate your very own house in a blocky world!
Close your eyes and picture this. The sun is shining over a little blocky world. On the left there is a leafy forest full of tall trees. On the right there is a rocky gray hill, and past the hill a sandy beach. And right in the middle, there is a flat, empty patch of green grass, just waiting for someone to build a home on it. That someone is you. You hold a trusty pickaxe βοΈ, your pockets are empty, and the whole world is your toy box. Welcome to Build My House, the dig, craft and build game on KidWorld! It has already been played more than 400,000 times, and happy young builders have given it thousands of five-star ratings, for a shining 4.9 out of 5. Grab your pickaxe, builder. Let's make a house you can be proud of!
π‘ What Is Build My House?
Build My House is a block building game that you see from the side, like looking at an ant farm through the glass. Everything in the world is made of little square blocks: grass, dirt, stone, wood, sand and more. You can dig almost any block, collect it, turn it into new things in the π οΈ Craft table, and then place blocks one by one to build a real house.
But a house is not just a box! A good house needs walls and a roof, a door to walk in, a window to look out, and a light for night time. Older builders also add a cozy bed, a table, a bookshelf, a painting and more. When you are happy with your home, you tap π Finish House, the sky turns dark, and your torches and lanterns glow in the night like a real little village. Then the game takes a picture of your house at night for you to keep as your prize.
The best part? Every world is brand new. The trees, flowers and hidden stones are placed in a fresh way each time you play, so no two games are ever exactly the same.
πΊοΈ A Quick Tour of Your Block World
Before you start, let's take a walk from left to right. Knowing where things are is the first secret of a fast builder!
π³ The Forest (far left): Four tall trees grow here. Their trunks give you Wood Logs, the most important thing in the whole game. The green leaves can be dug too. Pretty flowers grow on the grass nearby, and you will need them later.
π© The Building Plot (middle): A flat, wide patch of grass. This is the perfect place for your house. The ground is already a floor, so you only need to build walls and a roof on top of it.
β°οΈ The Rocky Hill (right): A bumpy gray hill made of stone. Dig it for Cobblestone. Look closely and you will find special stones with spots: stones with black spots are Coal, and stones with tan, peachy spots are Iron. There are always 2 coal stones and 1 iron stone sitting right on top of the hill, so you never have to dig deep to find them.
ποΈ The Beach (far right): Soft yellow Sand. Sand plus coal makes glass for your windows!
β¬ Deep Underground: Under the grass there is dirt, then stone, with more coal and iron hiding deep down. At the very bottom is dark Bedrock. Nobody can break bedrock. Not even you!
The world is wider than your screen. To look around, drag the world left or right with your finger or mouse, tap the arrow buttons on the sides, or press the left and right arrow keys on a keyboard.
πΉοΈ How to Play Build My House on KidWorld
Pick your level. Choose Toddlers, Preschool, Elementary or Tweens. KidWorld remembers your choice for next time, and you can switch any time with the βοΈ Change Level button.

Look at your goals. A row of goal badges sits at the top, like π Walls & Roof, Door, Window and Light. Each badge gets a green check mark β the moment you finish it.
Dig with the pickaxe βοΈ. The pickaxe is always the first slot in your item bar. Tap a block to dig it. Some blocks break with one tap. Harder blocks, like stone and ore, need a few taps, and you can watch the cracks grow bigger each time. Your little builder walks over and swings the pickaxe for you, and the block pops into your bar with a happy "+1".
Open π οΈ Craft. Tap the Craft button to see every recipe, sorted into Building Blocks, House Parts and Furniture. Each recipe shows what you have and what you need, like "2/3". When you have enough, the Craft button lights up. Tap it and your new item is ready to use right away.
Build by placing blocks. Tap an item in your bar to hold it, then tap an empty spot to place it. There is one rule: a block must touch another block. You can't make a block float in the empty sky. On a computer, a white box around a square means "yes, you can do that here", and a red box means "no, not here".
Use the π Blueprint. The blueprint is a dotted outline of a house drawn on the plot, with see-through pictures showing where the door and window go. Just fill in the dots! Tap the Blueprint button to turn it on or off.
Read the tip line. Under the buttons, a friendly tip always tells you the very next thing to do, like "Dig sand on the beach to make glass." If you are ever lost, look there.
Tap π Finish House. When your goals are done, tap Finish. If some goals are still missing, the button asks "Finish anyway?" so you don't finish by accident. Tap it again quickly if you really are done.
Enjoy the night show! Night falls, your lights twinkle on, and you see a picture of your house in the dark. You also see your score out of 100, how many goals you finished, how many furniture kinds you used, how many blocks you placed, your time, and up to 5 stars β. Tap Build Again for a brand-new world.
Handy buttons above the game: fullscreen makes the blocks bigger and easier to tap, reload starts a fresh world, and the music button turns sounds on or off.
π οΈ The Crafting Cookbook: Every Recipe
Crafting is like cooking. You mix ingredients and get something new! Here is the whole cookbook, so you can plan before you dig.
Building Blocks: 1 Wood Log makes 4 Planks. 4 Cobblestone makes 4 Stone Bricks. 2 Dirt + 1 Coal makes 2 Bricks. 2 Sand + 1 Coal makes 2 Glass.
House Parts: 3 Planks make 1 Door. 1 Plank + 1 Coal makes 4 Torches. 1 Iron + 1 Torch makes 1 Lantern.
Furniture: 3 Planks + 1 Flower makes a Bed (the flower becomes the blanket!). 2 Planks make a Table. 4 Planks make a Chest. 3 Planks make a Bookshelf. 1 Brick + 1 Flower makes a Flower Pot. 1 Plank + 1 Flower makes a Painting.
Notice something? Planks are in almost everything. And one little log turns into four planks. That's why wood is the king of this world! Coal and Iron are special: you can't build with them directly. They are only for crafting.
π§ Master Builder Secrets: How to Win Build My House
Anyone can stack blocks. Master builders know how the game really thinks. Here are the best secrets, starting easy and getting more clever.
Secret 1: Chop wood first, always. Before anything else, walk to the forest and dig tree trunks. Every log is 4 planks, and planks build your walls, door, torches, bed and furniture. Each tree has 4 or 5 logs in its trunk, so one or two trees is usually plenty for a small house.
Secret 2: Go on one big shopping trip. Walking back and forth wastes time. Plan one trip: forest (logs and flowers) β hill (coal, iron, cobblestone) β beach (sand) β back to the plot to build. Grab everything on the way.
Secret 3: A house is a "sealed bubble". Here is how the game decides if you built a house. It looks at the empty space inside your walls and asks: "Can the air inside sneak out to the open sky?" If every side is blocked, it's a room! The grass ground counts as your floor, so you only need walls on the sides and a roof on top.
Secret 4: Watch for the wallpaper. The instant your walls and roof close up a big enough space, the inside of your house fills with cozy wooden wallpaper. That is the game's way of saying "Yes! This is a room!" No wallpaper? Look for a hole where the air is leaking out.
Secret 5: Doors and windows are part of the wall. A door and a glass window block the air just like a wall block does. So you can leave a gap in your wall and put the door right in it. Your house stays sealed!
Secret 6: But furniture is NOT a wall. Torches, lanterns, beds, tables and other furniture are see-through to the game. If you put a torch in a wall hole, air leaks right past it and your room disappears! Keep furniture and lights inside the house, and fill wall holes only with blocks, doors or glass.
Secret 7: Corner blocks are just for looks. The game only checks up, down, left and right, never slanted corners. So air can't sneak out through a missing corner. Corner blocks still make your house look finished and pretty, though!
Secret 8: Your own blocks dig up in one tap. Placed a block in the wrong spot? No problem! Any block you placed comes back with just one tap, even hard stone. It's like an eraser for builders.
Secret 9: Built a full wall? Swap a block. If you closed every wall and forgot the door, just dig out one of your wall blocks (one tap!) and place the door there. Do the same for the glass window.
Secret 10: Furniture needs a friend to lean on. Remember the "must touch a block" rule? In the middle of a big room, a torch has nothing to hold on to. Put furniture on the floor or right next to a wall. Furniture can lean on other furniture too, so you can line things up in a row.
Secret 11: Lean on nature. Your house doesn't have to be a perfect box, and it doesn't have to follow the blueprint. You can build against the side of the hill and use it as one wall! Just remember: at least one wall block must be one you placed yourself. A little cave you dig, or a gap trapped between tree leaves, doesn't count as a house you built.
Secret 12: Grab two things with one tap. If a flower is growing on top of a grass block, dig the grass under it and you get the dirt and the flower at the same time.
Secret 13: Lanterns shine brighter. Both torches and lanterns count as a light. But when night falls at the end, a lantern makes a bigger, warmer circle of light than a torch. Want a beautiful night picture? Craft a lantern from 1 iron and 1 torch.
Secret 14: Take your time. The clock on the results screen is just for fun. It never changes your score, so build slowly and carefully.
π Builder's Shopping Lists
Smart builders count before they dig. Here is roughly what you need to finish the blueprint house on each level. (You can always collect a little extra, just in case!)
Small blueprint house (Toddlers and Preschool): It has 10 wall and roof blocks, 1 door and 1 window. Using planks for the walls, you need 10 planks for walls, 3 for the door and 1 for torches, which is 14 planks. That's 4 logs. Add 2 sand and 2 coal (one for the glass, one for the torches). Preschool also needs a bed, so bring 1 more log and 1 flower.
Medium blueprint house (Elementary and Tweens): It has 19 wall and roof blocks, 1 door and 1 window. You also need a bed and furniture. Plan on about 8 logs, 2 sand, at least 2 coal and 2 or 3 flowers. Tip: build some of the walls from cobblestone from the hill, and you can save lots of wood.
The coal plan: One coal makes 4 torches, one coal makes 2 glass, and one coal makes 2 bricks. So 2 coal from the top of the hill covers a torch and a window. Want bricks or a flower pot too? Dig a third coal.
β How Your Score Works
Goals are worth 80 points. The 80 points are shared equally between your level's goals. On Toddlers there are 4 goals, so each one is worth 20 points. On Tweens there are 7 goals, so each one is worth a little over 11 points.
Furniture bonus: up to 20 points. Every different kind of furniture inside your house adds 4 points: Table, Chest, Bookshelf, Flower Pot and Painting. Get all 5 kinds for the full 20 bonus points! Two tables still only count as one kind, so mix it up.
The bonus is open to everyone. Even Toddlers can earn furniture points. Finish your 4 goals (80 points), then add all 5 furniture kinds (20 points) for a perfect 100!
Stars: 90 points or more earns the golden trophy and 5 stars. 70 earns 4 stars, 50 earns 3, 25 earns 2, and every finished house earns at least 1 star.
Built two houses? The game is fair. It looks at every room you made and picks the one that finishes the most goals.
π Quick Builder Brain Teasers
You have 2 wood logs. How many planks can you make? (Answer: 8! Each log makes 4 planks.)
Your walls and roof are done, but there's no wallpaper inside. What happened? (Answer: there's a hole somewhere, or the inside is too small. Look for a gap and fill it with a block, a door or glass.)
You put a torch in a hole in your wall. Is your house still sealed? (Answer: No! Torches don't block air. Put a block or glass in the hole, and move the torch inside.)
You want a window. Where do you go? (Answer: the beach for sand, and the hill for a coal stone with black spots. 2 sand + 1 coal = 2 glass!)
You have 2 tables and 1 chest in your house. How many bonus points? (Answer: 8. Only different kinds count: Table and Chest are 2 kinds, times 4 points.)
π― Build My House for Every Age
The world and the recipes are the same for everyone, but your level changes the goals, how big the house must be, and how hard the blocks are to dig. That's why the Build My House game for kid builders of every age stays fun for years.
Build My House game for toddlers (around ages 2 to 4): Every block breaks with just one tap, and the small blueprint is turned on from the start. The house only needs 4 squares of space inside, and there are 4 simple goals: Walls & Roof, Door, Window and Light. It's a gentle first taste of building, and it's lovely to play together with a grown-up, pointing at the dots and saying "one more block here!"
Build My House game for preschool (around ages 4 to 6): Harder blocks now take up to 2 taps, and the house needs 6 squares inside. The blueprint is still on to help, and there's one new goal: a Bed. Preschoolers practice counting, planning ("I need 3 planks and a flower!") and following a simple plan.
Build My House game for elementary (around ages 6 to 10): Now it feels like real mining! Blocks take up to 3 taps, and you can only dig a block that is uncovered, so you have to dig your way in from the outside. The blueprint starts off (you can turn it on), the bigger house needs 8 squares inside, and you need a bed plus 2 pieces of furniture.
Build My House game for tweens (around ages 10 to 12): The master builder challenge. Ore takes 4 taps, the house needs at least 12 squares inside, and there are 7 goals, including 3 pieces of furniture and walls made from 3 different kinds of blocks. Here's a clever trick: any block you place in the walls counts as a kind, like Planks, Cobblestone, Stone Bricks, Bricks, Dirt or even Logs. Mixing planks, cobblestone and stone bricks gives you 3 kinds with no extra coal at all!
π Why Build My House Is Great for Kids
To a kid, it's just a fun block world. But while they dig and build, some wonderful things are growing inside their heads too:
Little architects in the making. Kids learn how real houses work: walls hold up a roof, doors let you in, windows let in light, and lights keep the night cozy. They think about shape, size and space, just like real architects do.
Planning ahead. "If I want a bed, I need planks and a flower. If I want planks, I need logs." Following a chain of steps like this is a big thinking skill that helps with schoolwork, cooking, and even packing a school bag.
Math without homework. Kids count blocks, add up planks, and figure out how many logs they need. One log makes four planks, so they are quietly practicing multiplying, too!
Free creativity. There is no one right house. A tall tower, a long cabin, a house leaning on the hill: if it's sealed and has what it needs, it counts. Kids get to decorate with paintings, bookshelves and flower pots and make it truly theirs.
Learning from mistakes. A block in the wrong place? One tap and it's back. A room with no wallpaper? Hunt for the leak and fix it. Kids learn that mistakes are easy to fix and that trying again is part of building.
Where things come from. Wood comes from trees, glass comes from sand, and bricks come from mud and heat. The game is a playful first peek at how everyday things are made.
A proud "I built that!" moment. Watching your own house light up in the dark and getting a picture of it to share is a wonderful feeling that makes kids want to build again and again.
Calm and safe. There are no monsters, no scary sounds and no rush. It's a peaceful world to explore at your own speed.
From a toddler placing their very first plank on a dotted blueprint, to a tween planning a three-material cottage with a bookshelf, a painting and a glowing lantern, Build My House on KidWorld.org lets every child dream it, dig it and build it. So pick up that pickaxe, head to the forest, and start building your dream house today. We can't wait to see it glowing in the moonlight! π‘π
