About Color Mixing Game

Have you ever mixed two paint colors together and watched a brand new color appear? That's exactly what Color Mixing is all about! You'll see two blobs of paint side by side, and your job is to guess what color they turn into when they mix. It's part game, part real art science — and it's a lot of fun!

Kids everywhere are already mixing away: this game has been played more than 170000 times, with thousands ratings and a super high 4.9 out of 5 stars! ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐

🧪 The Secret of Mixing Colors

Real painters use a few simple rules to make new colors, and this game teaches you the very same rules:

  • 🔴 + 🟡 = Orange

  • 🟡 + 🔵 = Green

  • 🔵 + 🔴 = Purple

Red, yellow, and blue are called primary colors — they are the starting colors that make every other color! When you mix two of them together, you get a brand new secondary color.

As you play more, you'll also discover how adding white makes colors lighter (like turning red into pink), how adding black makes colors darker (like turning blue into navy), and how mixing neighbor colors makes cool in-between shades. Real color science, right in your hands!

🕹️ How to Play

Playing Color Mixing is easy — just follow along:

  • Step 1 — Choose Your Level: Pick the level card that matches your age. Younger painters start with the 3 easy primary color mixes, while older painters unlock trickier mixes too.

  • Step 3 — Guess the mix: Four colorful buttons appear. Tap the one you think the two paints make together.

  • Step 4 — Check your answer: The correct color glows green. If you picked the wrong one, it turns red so you can learn the right answer.

📚 Everything You Need to Know to Win

Here are all the color-mixing rules the game uses, from easiest to trickiest:

  • 🔴 Red + 🟡 Yellow = Orange — two primary colors make a secondary color.

  • 🟡 Yellow + 🔵 Blue = Green

  • 🔵 Blue + 🔴 Red = Purple

  • Any color + ⚪ White = a lighter "tint" — like Red + White = Pink, or Blue + White = Light Blue.

  • Any color + ⚫ Black = a darker "shade" — like Red + Black = Dark Red, Blue + Black = Navy Blue, or Green + Black = Dark Green.

  • A primary + its neighbor secondary = a "tertiary" in-between color — like Yellow + Green = Yellow-Green, or Blue + Purple = Blue-Purple.

Remember: Red, Yellow, and Blue are the three primary colors — every other color in the game starts from mixing these!

I tried this at the art table with a small group and they stayed engaged while guessing the mixed color each time.

If you run it in a group, have kids explain why they picked an answer — it sparks good conversation about primary and secondary colors.

The kids actually argued over answers in a fun way and then explained their choices to each other.

That kind of debate is great — prompt them to say 'because' when explaining and you'll hear real reasoning.
